Symposium
Notes from the Digital Underground
31.1.2026 - 1.2.2026
Notes from the Digital Underground was a symposium by Khoj, conceptualised with Mila T. Samdub, held on 31 January and 1 February 2026 at the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in New Delhi, India.
Bringing together artists, scholars, and technologists, the symposium convened critical conversations on bodies, machines, and publics to unpack the complexities of networked life in a digitally uneven India. Through shared inquiry and dialogue, it reflected on the contradictions and possibilities of the digital present while imagining ways of living—and working—otherwise.
Speakers: Chris Salter, Ashish Rajadhyaksha, Nishant Shah, Maya Indira Ganesh, Micaela Mantegna, Aarti Sunder, Mila T. Samdub, Padmini Ray Murray, Ritam Sengupta, Vladan Joler, Ali Akbar Mehta, Bishakha Datta, Escher Tsai, Shabani Hassanwalia, Snigdha Poonam, Aditi Surie, David Brazier, Shuddhabrata Sengupta, Tara Kelton, Yatharth, Dan McQuillan, José Antonio Magalhães, Patrícia J. Reis, Stefanie Wuschitz, and Puneet Jain.
The symposium accompanied the Are You Human? exhibition at Khoj Studios (30 January–28 February 2026). The first two photographs below document the symposium; the final two show the related exhibition.
