Workshop Clay PCB – Eco-Feminist Decolonial Hardwareenhaag

It is an open secret that the hardware in our smart devices contains not only plastics but also conflict minerals such as silver and gold. Technology is therefore far from neutral. In this workshop, we investigate alternative forms of hardware made from locally sourced materials, exploring more ethical and renewable practices for both humans and the environment.

Participants will create Printed Circuit Boards from natural clay, using recycled silver as the main electrical conductor. We will model the boards, paint the circuits, and fire them. On the final day, participants will solder the electronic components and test an interactive microcontroller board capable of controlling digital and analogue sensors, as well as speakers, LEDs, and motors.
